In major breaking news, Brighton and Hove Albion have announced the signing of Promise David on a loan deal with an obligation to buy.
What type of deal is it?
The 25-year-old forward is an exciting prospect and scored an emphatic 41 goals and 9 assists in 82 games for his former side, Union Saint-Gilloise. When the option to buy is triggered, the total package is believed to be around €26 million plus bonuses.
Of course, we all forgot we had USG on our books to steal players from!
The Canadian international striker scored a rather dramatic goal against Switzerland during the World Cup, netting within 73 seconds of coming off the bench. A very well-taken goal, too!
David is a penalty taker for USG, having scored 10 of them, missing two. He has a very unique run-up style to get used to, similar to João Pedro 's composure from the spot.
This was a problem worth rectifying as far as Albion fans were concerned. When Pedro and Alexis Mac Allister left the club, there were very few internal options for takers from the spot beyond Pascal Groß .
What type of player is Promise David?
A great goalscorer and also a scorer of great goals. David has a collection of tidy and different finishes for USG.
Although they tend to be poacher finishes, he has scored his fair share of headers and goals from outside the box and isn't afraid to shoot using both feet.
David has a strong ball-striking ability, and when combined with a knack of being in the right place at the right time, this could be a lethal signing for the Seagulls.
At only 25 years of age, he has the capacity to improve and reach a higher ceiling.
The Premier League could suit his physicality while still having a blend of playing European-style football in the Europa Conference League.
