Broncos Wire 's 91-man offseason roster series continues today with a look at rookie long snapper Luke Basso, No. 43.
Before the Broncos :Basso (6-3, 246 pounds) is a homegrown Pacific Northwesterner out of Lake Oswego, Oregon. Basso was a four-year player at the University of Oregon, spending three seasons as their primary long snapper. In 2025, Basso earned second-team All-Big Ten recognition from coaches and honorable mention All-Big Ten honors from the media following the season. Basso was also named a semifinalist for the Patrick Mannelly Award , given to college football's best long snapper.
Broncos tenure:Basso was undrafted in April's draft, but was one of 13 players signed by the Denver Broncos in the aftermath of the draft. He's expected to make his Bronco debut during preseason this summer.
Chances to make the 53-man roster:Long shot. Basso will compete with Mitchell Fraboni , who has been the Broncos ' primary long snapper for the past three seasons . Basso represents a younger, cheaper option for Denver going into 2026, but Fraboni will be the favorite. Still, long snapper could be an intriguing position battle to watch going into the summer.
