With the Toronto Blue Jays expected to build a contending roster throughout the offseason after one of the most disappointing campaigns in Major League Baseball, adding bullpen help should be at the top of the priority list.
The Blue Jays are hopeful things will be very different next year once healthy, and much of that will start on the mound. Bullpen-wise, the Blue Jays can always keep improving on that front.
No team in Major League Baseball history has been a contender and been content with a below-average bullpen. The Blue Jays got decent production from multiple arms out of the bullpen this year, including right-hander Tyler Rogers. Rogers, who throws from a funky arm slot, posted a 1.77 ERA in 74 appearances.
His brother, Taylor Rogers, is also an above-average bullpen arm, and Taylor is set to hit the free-agent market. The left-hander, who also throws in a unique way, was with the Minnesota Twins last season. According to the latest report, there's interest in playing for the Blue Jays together.
"Rogers wants to continue pitching next year, listing the Twins and the Toronto Blue Jays, where his twin brother, Tyler, pitches, as his preferred options if the teams were interested," Bobby Nightengale wrote .
Taylor has been in the league a bit longer than Tyler, as the left-hander will enter his 12th Major League Baseball season next year. He's been around a good bit, playing for the Minnesota Twins, San Diego Padres , Milwaukee Brewers , San Francisco Giants , and Cincinnati Reds .
He might not be as good as his brother Tyler, but Taylor still has above-average stuff and would be a welcome addition to any bullpen.
