Luke Wypler gets the start at center
Wypler, a 2023 sixth-round pick, made five starts at center last season, then hurt his knee in the finale and missed much of the offseason.
"He played at the end of the year last year, has done a great job of working himself back after the injury he had last year and missing really the offseason," head coach Todd Monken said on Tuesday . "And if Elgton can't go, then I'll look forward to seeing Wyp play."
Wypler allowed five pressures and no sacks on 167 pass-blocking snaps in 2025, per PFF, good for a 74.3 pass-blocking grade. Rookie Parker Brailsford is active as the backup center after sitting out the past two weeks.
Steelers' pass rush is the test
Pittsburgh has eight sacks through three games , tied for sixth most in the NFL. T.J. Watt has 3.5 of them and Alex Highsmith has three.
That's a lot to handle for a line starting rookies Spencer Fano at left tackle and Austin Barber at right guard, plus a center making his first start of the season.
"I have to accelerate my growth," Fano said this week . "If I want to be able to compete and beat these kinds of edge rushers then I have to get better."
The Browns and Steelers are both 2-1 and tied atop the AFC North . The game streams on Prime Video.
