The Boston Bruins could be aggressive in free agency to add more talent to their roster.
Boston has been searching for another star defenseman to bolster the blue line, which is led by Charlie McAvoy . The Bruins were in the trade talks for Rasmus Andersson before he was dealt to the Vegas Golden Knights .
Now, ahead of free agency beginning on July 1, NHL analyst Kristopher Knox of Bleacher Report predicts Boston will sign Andersson to a lucrative long-term deal.
"Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Rasmus Andersson is the top free agent. The Golden Knights' financial limitations could allow another team to swoop in and snag the 29-year-old. The Boston Bruins just might be that team. Boston could use another high-end defenseman, and it has been linked to Andersson previously," Knox wrote in an article published on Sunday.
"Before Andersson was dealt to Vegas, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reported that the Bruins appeared "to be in the driver's seat" in trade talks. Friedman also reported that the Bruins weren't interested in acquiring Andersson without an extension. Now, they might have their chance to land him on a long-term deal. Prediction: Andersson signs with Boston."
If the Bruins do land Andersson, it would be a massive addition and would make Boston a true contender in the stacked Atlantic Division.
Andersson recorded 17 goals and 30 assists for 47 points in 81 games between the Calgary Flames and Golden Knights last season. So, the Swede would add some more offense to the blue line, which the Bruins desperately need.
