In fact, this Bruins' loss featured a major red flag.
The Bruins finished this matchup with only 15 shots on goal, as the Hurricanes continued to shut them down throughout the contest. The Bruins were simply unable to create any real chances, as the Hurricanes' strong defense stopped them with ease.
The Bruins most notably had only two shots on goal during the second period and went 20:39 without a shot during this matchup.
Overall, this is the kind of loss that will make Bruins fans question if the team's hot start to the season is legitimate. The Bruins had no answers against the Hurricanes and must find ways to create more chances as the season rolls on. If games like these become a common theme for the Bruins, they could rapidly fall down in the Eastern Conference standings.
The Bruins will now look to bounce back when they face the St. Louis Blues on Thursday night. They undoubtedly need to have a better performance because that loss to Carolina was very ugly.
