The Carolina Panthers need to find a way to get back on track this week after losing two straight games and falling to 3-4. Despite that, the Panthers are still in first place in the NFC South, but they can't rely on other teams losing.
Instead, they need to take care of business on their own. But the test doesn't get much easier.
After the offense struggled against Green Bay in Week 8 , the Panthers now welcome in a good Denver Broncos team that is 6-2. Denver's defense is among the best in the NFL, and it's going to take a really big game from Carolina to pull it out.
For the Panthers, their performance on offense over the last two weeks wasn't good. We saw quarterback Bryce Young struggle in both games, and even Dave Canales mentioned that his knee injury is limiting his mobility . Seeing how Young played against the Packers, that is likely the case.
Green Bay sent a lot of pressure at Young, forcing him out of the pocket. But Young struggled to get out quickly and was pressured right away, leading to some poor decisions and break downs in plays.
This week, Young was asked about the injury.
He told Panthers' beat writers that he's "good" and that he's capable of doing everything he can for the team. He mentioned that he feels good right now and that injuries are a huge part of the game, especially at this point of the season. A lot of players have wear and tear, and it's just about playing through it.
Young doesn't feel like his injury is at the stage where he's hurting the team. Instead, it's more of just simple execution that they are not achieving. Looking back at the first few weeks when the offense was playing well, the execution was great. That's the potential that this offense has when it's all clicking.
The quarterback has been on the injury report since Week 4. But he's good to go this week and the Panthers are going to need him to be on his A game if they want to pull off the home win. Carolina earning a win this week would put some pressure on both the Atlanta Falcons and Tampa Bay Buccaneers who each have three wins as well.
The two teams will kickoff at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday in Charlotte and it's shaping up to be a good one.
