- Buccaneers' Week 6 loss highlights 3 players for different reasons
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers watched a 13-point fourth-quarter lead disappear Sunday, falling 26-19 in overtime to the Pittsburgh Steelers at Raymond James Stadium. What appeared to be a strong defensive performance and a chance to secure a much-needed victory instead became another frustrating loss for Todd Bowles and his team.
Tampa Bay had its share of individual performances worth recognizing, but those efforts weren't enough to overcome inconsistent offensive execution and mistakes down the stretch. Three players in particular stood out for different reasons, highlighting both the encouraging developments and the problems that continue to hold the Buccaneers back.

Jalon Daniels, QB
Daniels showed why his athleticism can be valuable to Tampa Bay's offense, but Sunday's performance also exposed areas where the undrafted rookie needs to improve. He finished 22-of-43 for 164 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions while adding 39 rushing yards on four carries.
There were moments when Daniels extended plays that seemed to go nowhere, including a fourth-down scramble in overtime that kept Tampa Bay's hopes alive. His mobility helped compensate for breakdowns in protection, but his accuracy was inconsistent throughout the afternoon. Several throws intended for Emeka Egbuka were either too high, behind the receiver, or just out of reach.
The two fourth-quarter interceptions proved especially costly, with former Buccaneers cornerback Jamel Dean returning the second to Tampa Bay's 3-yard line. Daniels also took five sacks, including Jalen Ramsey's game-ending fourth-down blitz in overtime. Daniels deserves credit for battling through difficult situations, but the Buccaneers need more consistent passing production if they're going to win with him under center.

David Walker, OLB
While the offense struggled, Walker continued giving Tampa Bay reasons to be excited about its young defensive talent. The second-year edge rusher recorded two sacks against Aaron Rodgers, repeatedly creating problems for Pittsburgh's offensive line.
One of Walker's most impressive plays came in the third quarter when he used an inside move to beat his blocker and bring down Rodgers near midfield. He added another crucial sack late in regulation, beating his blocker around the edge and bringing Rodgers down for a nine-yard loss on third down.
Walker's second sack forced Pittsburgh to attempt a 58-yard field goal, which Chris Boswell ultimately converted to tie the game. The defensive performance wasn't perfect, especially in overtime, but Walker consistently did his part to disrupt Pittsburgh's passing attack. His development remains one of the more encouraging stories for Tampa Bay.

Chase McLaughlin, K
If there was one Buccaneers player who consistently delivered when his number was called, it was McLaughlin. The veteran kicker finished a perfect 4-for-4 on field goal attempts, connecting from 43, 47, 33, and 53 yards.
His biggest moment came with eight seconds remaining in regulation. After Tampa Bay's offense lost valuable yardage on a late sack, McLaughlin stepped up and drilled a 53-yard field goal to tie the game at 19 and force overtime.
McLaughlin accounted for 13 of Tampa Bay's 19 points, including the extra point following Emeka Egbuka's touchdown. While the offense continued struggling to finish drives, McLaughlin consistently delivered. His 53-yard kick was especially impressive, given that the offense had moved backward on a sack, turning what could have been a more manageable attempt into a difficult one with the game on the line.
