- Byron Young is emerging as a valuable weapon on Eagles' defensive line
The Philadelphia Eagles don't have many questions along the defensive interior, the exception being that it's unlikely they'll hang on to Moro Ojomo past this season. As most know, recently extended Jalen Carter complicates that, as does the previous deal given to Jordan Davis . Still, we're months away from that discussion. As currently constructed, the Eagles are loaded up front.
Carter headlines the room as one of football's premier defensive tackles. Jordan Davis remains a dominant presence against the run. Ojomo is a nice chess piece who looks to continue building on an impressive 2025 campaign. That depth, however, shouldn't overshadow Byron Young . He rarely generates the same headlines as the stars ahead of him, but training camp has become another reminder that the Eagles may have one of the league's most valuable fourth defensive tackles.

Byron Young keeps flashing in Eagles team drills.
It's nice to see someone's name surfacing for all the right reasons. Young has quietly stacked productive practices throughout camp. During Monday's first padded workout, he burst into the backfield for a tackle for loss during a red-zone drill. Later, he generated pressure, forcing an offensive penalty. He followed that performance with another strong showing Tuesday.
Young beat the offensive line on a pass rush that resulted in a holding penalty against Cam Jurgens before continuing to disrupt the offense throughout team periods. Earlier in camp, he also drew praise for consistently finding his way into the backfield while working with the defensive rotation.
Those plays may not generate highlight reels, but they're exactly what defensive coordinator Vic Fangio wants from his interior defenders. Championship defenses aren't built solely around stars. They're built around waves of contributors who prevent offenses from catching a break.

Byron Young presents a luxury few teams possess
Byron Young is part of what makes Philadelphia's defensive tackle room so intriguing. Carter commands double teams. Davis controls the line of scrimmage. Ojomo has become one of the defense's most reliable rotational players. Young gives the Eagles another disruptive interior presence capable of affecting games without needing starter-level snaps.
As the regular season unfolds, Vic Fangio will almost certainly lean on that depth to keep his front fresh. Byron Young may not be the first defensive tackle opposing offenses discuss when preparing for Philadelphia. If training camp is any indication, he may become one of the reasons they never get a chance to relax.
