Potential No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa declared for the 2026 NBA Draft on Thursday. The BYU star posted a video on social media breaking the news and made a formal announcement at Davis School in Brockton, Massachusetts, which he attended growing up.
Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson and Cameron Boozer are the leading candidates to go No. 1 in the draft. However, Dybantsa made a strong case during a stellar freshman season for why he should be the top player selected.
The 6-foot-9 forward led the nation in scoring, averaging 25.5 points on 51.0 percent shooting along with 6.8 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game. He earned consensus All-America honors and was named first-team All-Big 12 and Big 12 Freshman of the Year.

Dybantsa is currently the betting favorite (-230) to be the No. 1 pick on June 23 at Barclays Center, per FanDuel Sportsbook. Peterson has the second-best odds (+260), while Boozer is third (+700).
Following a heated tank race, the Washington Wizards , Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets have the top odds (14.0 percent each) of landing the No. 1 pick. Meanwhile, the Utah Jazz and Sacramento Kings each have an 11.5 percent chance. The Memphis Grizzlies have a 9.0 percent chance, while the Atlanta Hawks (via New Orleans Pelicans ) have a 6.8 percent chance, and the Dallas Mavericks have a 6.7 percent chance.
