Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever have now entered the offseason after their playoff elimination on Oct. 1. They lost 94-83 in Game 3 of their first-round series against the Las Vegas Aces.
Fever veteran Monique Billings posted a parting message for her ninth WNBA season on Instagram. Clark dropped a simple reaction to the post.
Billings joined the Fever in April on a two-year deal . She entered the league as the 15th overall pick in the 2018 WNBA Draft and has since suited up for five different franchises. The 6-foot-4 forward became a regular in head coach Stephanie White's rotation, appearing in 43 regular-season games and all three playoff contests.
"Year 9 💟," Billings wrote on Thursday. "Still rooted. Still growing. Still becoming. Thank you 🤲🏾."
Clark kept her reaction brief, using just one emoji.
"🩷," Clark commented.
Other Fever players also left messages for Billings in the comments.
"❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️," Raven Johnson reacted.
"Mo' Monnneyyyyy😍💐," Kelsey Mitchell said.
"❤️🤞🏾," Myisha Hines-Allen wrote.
"💓💓💓💓," Grace VanSlooten commented.
"my beautiful lady👏🏽😍," Makayla Timpson added.
Billings averaged 6.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 18.7 minutes per game. She provided Indiana with a solid inside presence and showcased her ability to defend different positions. The 30-year-old also became more aggressive on offense, taking 107 free-throw attempts, the most in a season of her career.
Billings will remain with the Fever next season unless they trade or waive her. However, the team may adopt a new look, especially with some key players entering free agency.
