- Cameron Boozer hints at jersey number change with Grizzlies after NBA Draft
Former Duke star Cameron Boozer saw his NBA dreams come true Tuesday night, being selected No. 3 overall by the Memphis Grizzlies . However, there is one problem for Boozer now that he's headed to Memphis. Boozer's No. 12 is currently occupied by Grizzlies star point guard Ja Morant.
Following the draft, Boozer hinted at a jersey change, considering a couple of options for a new number.
"I have to see what's available first," he said. "Maybe 2 for my brother, 21 maybe. I've got to see all the numbers on the roster and stuff to decide that."
While it would be cool for Duke fans to see Boozer represent Cayden Boozer 's number (2), the former Blue Devil may have to make a different selection. Point guard Ty Jerome currently holds the No. 2, and current restricted free agent Rayan Rupert wore No. 21. If Rupert is retained by Memphis, it could lead to Boozer selecting one of his dad's old numbers, as No. 5 is not currently being worn by any Grizzlies.
