- Canucks Re-Assign Forward Braeden Cootes To The AHL
After a strong 2026 pre-season effort, the Vancouver Canucks have re-assigned star prospect Braeden Cootes to the Abbotsford Canucks in the AHL. Cootes was one of the final players left in line to potentially take a spot in Vancouver's opening-night lineup.
Prior to being re-assigned, Cootes had played in all three pre-season games for the Canucks, scoring a goal and two assists in that span. He spent the first two pre-season games on Vancouver's top-line, finding success on a line with forward Arshdeep Bains . In his final pre-season game, Thursday night's 2-1 loss to the Edmonton Oilers , he centred the team's fourth-line with Paul Cotter and Brendan Gallagher on his wings.

Cootes will now join an Abbotsford squad that features fellow Canucks prospects Ty Mueller , Vilmer Alriksson, Sawyer Mynio, and more. He will likely slot into Abbotsford's top-six, potentially even on their first-line.
