The Arizona Cardinals pulled off a huge upset in Week 8. Arizona pulled off a thrilling overtime win against Dallas in a game where Gardner Minshew took over at quarterback. Will that victory keep the Cardinals from becoming sellers at the upcoming NFL trade deadline?
NFL insider Jordan Schultz gave an update on Cardinals edge rusher Josh Sweat ahead of the trade deadline. Sweat's future seems to depend on Arizona's willingness to trade him.
"Sources: The belief around the NFL is that #Cardinals DE Josh Sweat would be open to a trade, as he has been dating back to the offseason, and it's up to Arizona whether it ultimately decides to deal him," Schultz wrote on Tuesday. "Multiple teams would have interest in Sweat, but the asking price is believed to be high. Arizona has given the impression they're fine keeping him."

One team rumored to be interested in Sweat is the Cowboys . Dallas got a good look at Sweat in Week 8, where he logged six total tackles and a sack.
Thus far, the Cardinals do not seem that interested in moving on from Sweat. The veteran edge rusher was incredible in 2025, logging 12 sacks and four forced fumbles on the season. He is locked up through the 2029 season , which doesn't give Arizona much reason to trade him. That is, assuming the team wants him to be a part of the organization's future.
Ultimately, it may come down to the asking price for Sweat. Even if Arizona does not want to trade him, they may be willing to do so for an excellent return.
Meanwhile, Arizona is now 3-5 on the season. They are hopelessly far from making the playoffs, but they're establishing a strong culture under head coach Mike LaFleur. It will be fascinating to see if they decide to make moves at the trade deadline.
Next up for the Cardinals is a Week 9 road game against the Seahawks. That NFC West showdown kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET on Nov. 8 from Lumen Field in Seattle.
