NORMAN, Okla. -- South Carolina edge rusher Dylan Stewart left Saturday's game at Oklahoma late in the second quarter after getting hit in the midsection by an opponent's helmet.
Stewart was trying to shed blocks when he took a wicked spear from Oklahoma offensive lineman Noah Best. Stewart returned to start the second half.
Stewart, who is expected to be an early first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft, had a half tackle for loss in the first half. The Sooners largely kept him under control before his exit.
Stewart is considered one of the nation's best defensive linemen. He was a Sporting News preseason All-American and was named to the Walter Camp, Nagurski and Lombardi Award preseason watchlists.
Stewart was suspended for the Kentucky loss earlier this season after throwing a punch and having behavior issues on the sideline against Alabama. Last week, Stewart forced a fumble late on the Tennessee end of the field that set up the winning field goal.
