It's not like San Francisco Giants fans need to be reminded that they haven't made the playoffs since 2021.
They're now coming off their fifth straight season where they didn't make the cut, and that's simply unacceptable and not the standard this organization has set.

When Buster Posey came into the fold, it's not like immediate changes were expected, but a .401 winning percentage was the last thing on everyone's mind.
Some would argue this season should be thrown out due to how many injuries there were and how aggressive they had to be as sellers at the trade deadline , but coming off a 65 win season, there's simply no excuse for anything.
This was the Giants worst season since 2017, a year when they went 64-98 and were only a tick worse than the 2026 version of this team.
Posey had a chance to speak with the media on Tuesday, Sept. 29, and he provided a slew of updates, along with what's to be expected regarding this coaching staff.

Is Tony Vitello on the hot seat?
Posey may not have had a direct answer for Tony Vitello 's place in this organization, but he did provide an update that proves there could indeed be changes on the way.
"There's a possability of a couple changes to the coaching staff," Posey said according to NBC Sports Bay Area 's Alex Pavlovic.
Posey said it's something they'll talk about "this month," which seems to be signaling October, and not September which ends in a day.
Regardless, there's room to believe this team can only get better, and not worse. No one is saying they need to remove and everyone and start from the ground up, but keeping the exact same core going into the 2027 season, if there even is one, seems like one of the worst ideas of all time.

Where do Giants go after 65-97 season?
This team was three games shy of ending the year with 100 losses, and that's something that hasn't happened since 1985 .
That year, the team was a horrific 62-100, and it remains the worst season in franchise history.
San Francisco plays in a tough division, no doubt, but there was no reason for them to only be seven games ahead of the 58-104 Colorado Rockies .
It's safe to say the only place this team can go is up from here, but nothing is for certain until everyone sees what changes Posey and the rest of this organization is able to make.
