The Chargers began their offseason roster overhaul by releasing guard Mekhi Becton and tight end Will Dissly on Wednesday.
These moves, which also included waiving offensive tackle Savion Washington , are expected to clear significant salary cap space, roughly $9.7 million from Becton and $4 million from Dissly, ahead of the new league year.
Becton, signed last offseason to a two-year, $20 million deal, started 15 games last season but struggled with injuries and performance. The 2020 first-round pick will now look for his fourth team in four years.
Dissly's release ends his two-year stint with the Bolts. While productive in 2024, injuries and the emergence of Oronde Gadsden II for 11 catches and 97 yards in 2025.
The moves free up $14.5 million in total, leaving the team with roughly $99 million in projected cap space to aggressively pursue upgrades on both sides of the ball.
