Xabi Alonso has chosen to throw himself under the bus in a very strange turn of events after crashing out of the Carabao Cup.
Morgan Rogers and Cody Gakpo exchanged goals at Anfield on Wednesday, 28 October, forcing fans to watch out a penalty shootout.
Emanuel Emegha had the chance to become a Blues legend after Ryan Gravenberch missed the Reds' fifth penalty, only to see his saved as well.
The shootout was finally over when Wesley Fofana blasted his effort into the stands, leaving the travelling fans extremely disappointed.
With no European football and a very unlikely chance of winning the Premier League, Alonso is running out of ways to win a trophy in his first season.
That isn't the issue, though. It wasn't the worst display against Andoni Iraola's team, but it's the attitude after that is a cause for concern.
Xabi Alonso already under pressure
Right now, Alonso is one of the least likely Premier League managers to be sacked next, at least according to the bookmakers, priced at 80/1.
However, that could quickly change at Stamford Bridge after the new manager showcased exactly how poor his mindset is this season.
After being eliminated from the competition, the 44-year-old stated that it was the "least important" for Chelsea, despite previously talking about the importance of winning.
Unsurprisingly, supporters have blown up at the Spaniard's comments on social media. And they're right; it's a strange comment to make.
We've seen the rotating door of managers in West London before, so he needs to be much more careful with his words if he wants to stay in charge long term.

It has been far from helpful that his post-match comments immediately contradicted his decisions on the lineup, starting multiple key stars.
With it being pointed out that the Blues are now several years without a trophy, not including the Club World Cup, the manager is being rightly criticised.
If all goes wrong against Manchester United on Saturday, 31 October, he will have a very unhappy fanbase, and one that might even be calling for his job already.
