KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Chiefs season ticket holders took over KC Live! at Power and Light Thursday night for an exclusive NFL Draft watch party.
LIVE UPDATES: Chiefs trade up to take LSU CB Mansoor Delane at #6
Entering the night with the ninth pick in the draft, the Chiefs found themselves trading up three spots for LSU Cornerback Mansoor Delane. One Chiefs fan tells FOX4 he trusts Brett Veach, and couldn't be happier with the pick.
"It was a perfect strategic pick," Chiefs fan James Blair said. "They had to do what they had to do to trade up to get that missing piece of the team. We needed a cornerback and we got the job done."
It wasn't the just the Red Kingdom that made an appearance at Thursday nights draft party. 2026 Chiefs Hall of Fame inductee Derrick Johnson was also in attendance. Excited to be back in KC, he says it's an honor to be put in the ring of honor.
"It feels like it was yesterday, but it wasn't," Johnson said. "But I tell you what, being able to be in the Chiefs Hall of Fame now, it's pretty cool. It's pretty cool man, I'm very honored."
Chiefs fans are no strangers to coming out and watching Mahomes and company take the field in brutal weather conditions. That's why even a night with severe weather is no match for the Red Kingdom.
"Weather is no problem for Chiefs fans," Vice President of Fan Experience Jayne Martin said. "They will be at Arrowhead whether it's -20 degrees or 110 degrees. So, weather doesn't scare them at all."
Derrick Johnson to join Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame
As for the new players welcomed into the Chiefs Kingdom, Derrick Johnson has one piece of advice for them.
"Get into the community, " Johnson said. "Make sure you get into the community. Get sold out into Kansas City theme, and the tradition, and the rich tradition they have here and let your personality show."
The NFL Draft will wrap up on Saturday.
