Coach Andy Reid's Kansas City Chiefs headed to Seattle to take on Sam Darnold 's Seahawks in Sunday Night Football action that led to a 10-0 halftime deficit after a surprise confrontation between the Chiefs coach, an offensive lineman, and Patrick Mahomes . The lineman, Josh Simmons, headed to the injured reserve list putting the Chiefs behind the eight-ball as they squared off with Sam Darnold and the Seahawks in Week 7.
The Seahawks' lead was tempered by a bad throw from their star quarterback, which was picked off by Nohl Williams of the Chiefs just before the intermission. Williams intercepted Darnold in the end zone and nearly took it back to the house as fans began losing their minds in Seattle.
Williams' interception came on a day when the Seahawks had over triple the offensive production of the Chiefs heading as the third quarter began. Mahomes, Kenneth Walker III and others had a hard time getting untracked as Reid and offensive coordinator Eric Bienemy's offense continued to struggle in the Pacific Northwest.
Seattle tacked on a field goal to make the score 13-0 midway through the third stanza, on a day when Walker III was out for revenge against his former team , the one he won a Super Bowl with last season as he brought home an MVP trophy for his efforts.
The Chiefs didn't look like their usual high-octane selves on offense, and a fired-up Seahawks defense had a lot to do with it. The bad vibes were hard to ignore heading toward the game's end, but fans knew that Mahomes and company had tackled bigger challenges before.
