While Kevin Durant is trying his dardenest to keep the Houston Rockets alive in the playoffs, his past is coming back to haunt him. On Monday, NBA analyst Chris Broussard argued that Durant's legacy would be better off had he stayed with the Golden State Warriors , per The Herd with Colin Cowherd.
Essentially, Broussard said not only would Durant have won more championships, but the conversation of Steph Curry 's greatness also wouldn't be where it is now.
"If he stayed in Golden State he probably has 4 championships. At least 3. And instead of Steph Curry being the guy we're throwing in the top ten all-time, it's Kevin Durant . His legacy is completely different."
Durant played for the Warriors from 2016 to 2019. He won two NBA championships in 2017 and 2018, earning Finals MVP honors both times. In 2019, Durant was traded to the Brooklyn Nets .
Meanwhile, Curry remains one of the top players in the game , even at age 38. Overall, he is without question one of the best pure shooters in NBA history. Durant is often considered one of the best scorers and defenders of his time.
If Durant had stayed with Golden State, he might have won more championships. However, there is the argument that he only joined because it would have been easier to win a title with an already dominant team.
Even though Durant had his moments, Steph Curry is widely considered the face of the Warriors. In his later years, Durant has sought to contend for a championship on his own.
