The Packers and wide receiver Christian Watson agreed to four-year, $110.5 million contract extension on Thursday, per ESPN's Adam Schefter. It includes a $31 million signing bonus.
This move comes after the Packers gave Jayden Reed a three-year extension worth $50.25 million back in April. Green Bay is clearly doubling down on the receiver they already have on the roster. Especially after letting Romeo Doubs walk in free agency and trading away Dontayvion Wicks earlier this offseason.
But Packers fans do not sound happy about this announcement. Multiple fans took to social media immediately after the announcement to voice their confusion.
"Why did they pay him now? Wait until he actually has an elite season. Now he wont be motivated," one fan argued .

"Am I tripping or is this not crazy?" another fan asked .
The source of the confusion seems to be the disconnect between how much Watson got paid and what he's produced on the football field.
Watson is coming off a season where he logged 35 receptions for 611 receiving yards and six touchdowns. That is one the best seasons he's put together during his four-year career in the NFL. That is hardly elite production, especially considering Watson's injury history that has forced him to miss multiple games.
Ultimately, the Packers are making a big bet on the talent they already have in the building. Hopefully that works out for Green Bay during an absolutely crucial 2026 campaign.
