- Christian Watson situation could put the Green Bay Packers under NFL’s magnifying glass
The Green Bay Packers are now facing scrutiny over their handling of a player related issue, joining the Philadelphia Eagles, who continue to deal with criticism surrounding their response to Jalen Hurts' blood clot situation.
Packers wide receiver Christian Watson was taken from Lambeau Field in an ambulance during Thursday night's 27-19 victory over the Carolina Panthers after coughing up blood due to a broken rib. Remarkably, he returned to the game roughly an hour later.
Although some viewed Watson's return as an inspiring moment, others criticized the Green Bay Packers for what they considered a reckless decision involving one of the team's key players.
The Philadelphia Eagles avoided immediate punishment from the NFL after allowing Jalen Hurts to suit up in London following medical clearance for a blood clot in his calf. However, the NFLPA asked for an investigation into the matter.

That leaves room for the Packers to come under similar scrutiny for Watson's return against Carolina . Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk raised the possibility that Green Bay could face consequences after the receiver rejoined the game shortly after being taken to the hospital.
"He broke a rib, and was spitting up blood, and he came back and played in the game? … Are you effing kidding me?" Florio stressed.
"After what we just saw and the s*** storm the NFL is still dealing with with Jalen Hurts, they took this guy to the hospital because he was spitting up blood and had a broken rib."

Watson suffered the injury during a 53-yard reception in the second quarter. He appeared to hit the ground with the ball beneath him as Panthers cornerback Will Lee landed on top of him. The catch was his sixth of the game and brought his receiving total to 100 yards.
He was transported to a nearby hospital, where doctors performed an X-ray, CT scan and blood tests. The X-ray revealed a fractured rib, but medical staff found no internal bleeding and gave him permission to return to the field.
Several days after the game, the debate continues over Green Bay's decision to allow Watson back on the field. Fans are questioning whether the Packers exposed the receiver to additional risk by clearing him to play despite knowing he had been coughing up blood less than an hour earlier.
