The Clemson Tigers knew they would be without running back Gideon Davidson , center Harris Sewell and left guard Elyjah Thurmon against the Syracuse Orange this Saturday, and now, a fourth key player may be unavailable.
Wide receiver Tyler Brown, who has become Tait Reynolds' favorite target in recent weeks, is suddenly listed as questionable for the Syracuse matchup.
No injury has been specified for Brown, but if the senior playmaker is not able to go, it would be a significant blow for Clemson.
Brown has caught 36 passes for 332 yards through eight games, with 25 of his receptions coming over the last four.
Most recently, Brown logged five catches for 74 yards in the Tigers' win over Florida State. He snared eight balls for 62 yards the week prior, and back on Oct. 13 against Miami, Brown hauled in 10 receptions for 76 yards.
Given how disappointing both T.J. Moore and Bryant Wesco have been thus far in 2026, Brown's absence would be a big deal. That's especially considering how comfortable Reynolds has gotten with him over the last month-plus.
Clemson's aerial attack has already struggled as it is this season, so the last thing the team needs is to lose one of its top wide outs.
It should also be noted that the Orange have been playing some good football recently and are coming off of back-to-back wins. They just beat SMU last weekend.
If Brown ends up sidelined, that could mean more playing time for freshman receiver Naeem Burroughs, who logged his first two career catches against Charleston Southern on Oct. 17 but hasn't been used since.
Both Moore and Wesco were expected to be top-tier weapons for the Tigers going into the season, but neither has produced to their capabilities.
In fact, the two star pass-catchers were viewed as potential first-round talents before the campaign, but it seems safe to say that their stock has dipped considerably .
Of course, Reynolds' struggles have played a role in that, but there have also been too many dropped passes that aren't just on the quarterback.
Brown has probably been Reynolds' most sure-handed target, so the fact that he could be in street clothes for this one is bad news for they young signal-caller.
Clemson is 5-3 heading into the contest and has gone 3-2 in ACC conference play. We'll see if the Tigers can pick up what would be an impressive road win this Saturday.
