Why the Cole Wisniewski acquisition stands out
Hype only takes a player so far in Philadelphia. To stick, talent is necessary. Wisniewski has more than his fair share During a recent breakdown, NBC Sports' Barrett Brooks pointed to the young man as a player worth paying attention to.
The appeal isn't built on hype. It is indeed built on traits. There's that word again. Wisniewski profiles as a physical presence, someone comfortable working downhill, supporting the run, and operating in tight spaces. That alone gives him a chance to carve out a role early, especially on special teams or in specific defensive packages. He may not arrive as a polished, do-it-all safety, but he doesn't have to be. That's why teams hire position coaches. The Eagles may have found value where others have overlooked some.

If Wisniewski can prove reliable, assignment-sound, and impactful in limited reps, the path to sticking around becomes very real. Cole Wisniewski wasn't drafted to be a star. That doesn't mean he can't be one, but that brings us back to where the conversation began. He was drafted to compete, and if the early read is right, he may wind up doing a lot more than just filling out the roster.
