Indianapolis Colts cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt has been suspended for the first game of the 2026 regular season without pay for violating the NFL's Personal Conduct Policy.
According to a league spokesperson, "Taylor-Britt is eligible to participate in all preseason activities, including games. He will be eligible for reinstatement on Monday, September 14."
Taylor-Britt will miss the Colts' Week 1 home matchup with the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 13 before becoming eligible again the following day.
The Colts signed Taylor-Britt to a one-year, $1.4 million deal on March 17 to compete for a spot among a loaded cornerback group .
On Jan. 6, he was sentenced to five days in jail for a 2025 driving incident while with the Cincinnati Bengals.
It was alleged that on Sept. 14, 2025, Taylor-Britt did a burnout in his car on the wrong side of the road near Paycor Stadium after the Bengals' game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The incident drew misdemeanor charges of driving without a license and reckless driving.
Taylor-Britt served his jailtime immediately upon receiving his sentence in Jan.
He was originally a second-round pick (No. 60 overall) by the Bengals in the 2022 NFL Draft, chosen to play for former Bengals defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo, who now holds that same title in Indianapolis.
Taylor-Britt was a standout player for much of his first few years in Cincinnati before encountering some turbulence last year. His game had more variant peaks and valleys, which led to his demotion from the starting lineup. However, shortly after returning to gameplay following a healthy scratch, he suffered a Lisfranc injury in his foot, which limited him to just eight games.
In 47 career games (40 starts), Taylor-Britt has 203 tackles (four for loss), 0.5 sacks, two QB hits, two forced fumbles, seven interceptions, and 38 pass breakups.
Taylor-Britt was still recovering from the injury when he joined the Colts, which kept him out of offseason activities and the team's June minicamp.
Taylor-Britt was healthy to start training camp in late July and has yet to miss a practice. He's been active with the second-team defense, both as an outside corner and in the slot, and has taken reps with the first-team defense on the outside when Sauce Gardner and Charvarius Ward Sr. have missed brief time.
The Colts have also gotten Taylor-Britt involved on special teams, despite him playing just 30 special teams snaps in his pro career . He's been seen in the rotation at punt team gunner, which is a critical role.
The more a player can do, the more likely they are to make the roster, and Taylor-Britt appears to be prepared to do whatever it takes to stick around the Colts after getting a second chance in his career.
