The front office of the Washington Commanders got pretty busy on Tuesday after making a slew of roster moves with just a few weeks left before the start of the new season.
The Commanders are still trying to find the perfect mix of players on both sides of the ball, as they try to return to the playoffs after a woeful 5-12 record last season. It was quite the fall for Washington after its inspired run to the NFC Championship Game in 2024.
According to the Commanders, they signed linebacker Krys Barnes , defensive tackle Maurice Hurst II, tight end Tre' McKitty, and running back Craig Reynolds . They released punter Matt Haack and kicker Jake Moody .

Wide receiver River Cracraft and running back Jerome Ford , meanwhile, were placed on the reserve/injured list.
Last season, Barnes played seven games for the Arizona Cardinals , tallying 23 total tackles, while Hurst was with the practice squad of the Cleveland Browns and McKitty suited up for the Louisville Kings in the UFL.
Reynolds is in his second stint in Washington after spending his rookie year with the team in 2019.
Three weeks have passed in training camp, and Washington coach Dan Quinn is still tinkering with the lineup , not wanting to miss out on a possible gem or an under-the-radar contributor. He has been pushing his young players as well, especially their blue-chip rookies, linebacker Sonny Styles and wide receiver Antonio Williams .
The Commanders will continue their preseason schedule against the Detroit Lions on Saturday. They beat the Miami Dolphins , 20-7, on Friday.
