- Commanders vs. Rams Thursday injury report: Johnny Newton trending up
The Commanders need reinforcements along the defensive line, like, in the worst possible way. Daron Payne is done for the season. Javon Kinlaw's also on injured reserve.
That's why the fact that Johnny Newton practiced in full for a second straight day matters so much. He's working to come off injured reserve, with his 21-day practice window having been opened up last week. There's no guarantee that he'll return in time for Sunday afternoon's game against the Los Angeles Rams, but the odds seem better with him working so much in practice.

He's returning from a pectoral injury suffered during the preseason.
Treylon Burks missed a second straight day with a foot injury, a bad sign considering how much and how well he played against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 8.
Stefon Diggs was back to work after receiving some veteran rest and, overall, the injury report is pretty light compared to recent weeks.
John Bates, Sam Cosmi and Shy Tuttle were limited for a second straight day. Receiver Dyami Brown was a new addition to the participation report as limited with a calf injury, which generally implies that he got injured during Wednesday's practice.
