Texas A&M's offense has been a consistent question through nearly all seven games this season.
Redshirt junior quarterback Marcel Reed has had a surprising regression after his career year in 2025. Despite scoring just six points in blowout road losses to Missouri and LSU, third-year coach Mike Elko has opted to start Reed for, likely, the rest of the season.
I can't speak for a majority of the Aggie fan base, but through seven games, Reed's 1,227 yards, seven touchdowns, six interceptions and 55.7 completion percentage have led to cries for sophomore backup quarterback Brady Hart to receive more playing time.
A former four-star prospect and Michigan commitment flip, Hart has natural arm talent but lacks the accuracy and touch to produce against SEC-level defenses. While the comparison to Reed's conference play is valid, Pro Football Focus' numbers will also frustrate fans.
Per PFF , Reed finished the game against The Citadel going 8 of 13 for 130 yards and a touchdown. He earned an average 64.8 offensive grade, a 65.5 clean pocket and a 58.9 under pressure ratings. Brady Hart finished 8 of 12 for 107 yards and a touchdown with an impressive 83.5 offensive grade and 90.2 clean pocket, 63.2 under pressure.
Equally average to bad under pressure, the clean pocket difference will drive more fans to want Hart to start the rest of the way. However, his lack of experience against SEC defenses compared to Reed's will play a significant role in Elko's decision.
Reed is fully expected to start against Alabama on Oct. 24, but if his accuracy issues and decision-making issues continue, Hart will be waiting in the wings.
