The Los Angeles Lakers look to bolster their roster with significant improvements, especially in the frontcourt. Mitchell Robinson could be a solid remedy to their weaknesses in that area.

Robinson is an unrestricted free agent this summer as his contract with the New York Knicks expired. He completed his eighth year in the NBA with the Knicks, helping the franchise win their first championship since 1973 this year.
However, his time in New York might be up as he seeks a new contract in free agent. Many contending teams will want to acquire his services, and the Lakers could be one of them. NBA insider Brett Siegel explained the appeal behind Los Angeles pursuing the veteran center.
"After trading Nic Claxton to the Chicago Bulls and adding Julius Randle , many have wondered if the Brooklyn Nets would pursue Robinson with their cap space. This now appears to be a real possibility, with Marc Stein reporting that the Nets have "legitimate interest" in pursuing their in-city rival's big man. Robinson and Randle spent five seasons together as one of the best rebounding frontcourts in the league," Siegel wrote.
"And it shouldn't come as a secret to anyone that the Lakers already have plans to pursue Robinson as well. Early talk regarding Los Angeles is that they are prepared to offer Robinson a long-term deal that would hold an annual average value around the mid-level exception, sources said."

What's next for Lakers amid Mitchell Robinson rumors
Mitchell Robinson would be a huge addition for the Lakers to pull off. His defense and rebounding elevates the team's talent in the frontcourt, especially as they look to revamp their depth at center.
Robinson remained effective following his eighth year in the league. He averaged 5.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.2 blocks per game throughout 60 regular-season appearances. In the playoffs, he produced 4.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.
Los Angeles finished with a 53-29 record this past season, finishing fourth in the Western Conference standings. They took down the Houston Rockets in six games before falling to the Oklahoma City Thunder in a four-game sweep.
