- Will Cowboys re-enter Maxx Crosby sweepstakes after Ravens renege?
The Dallas Cowboys must be used to March disappointment by now. They've had numerous situations where they placed an artificial cap on what they'd be willing to offer to attain a new player. Normally, that plays out in free agency (which it still did this year), but in the wildest switchup in quite a while, it played out in trade negotiations.
The Cowboys made a strong push to trade for disgruntled Las Vegas edge rusher Maxx Crosby . Dallas ended up offering, at least, the No. 12 pick, and a 2027 second-round pick. There was even a report the team tried to sweeten the deal by including DT Osa Odighizuwa . But they were thwarted by the Raiders who accepted an offer of two first-round picks from the Baltimore Ravens .

But there's been a reversal. Crosby failed his physical with the Ravens on Tuesday and the trade has been cancelled. Will the Cowboys re-enter the conversation?
This reversal has far-reaching implications. For one, the Raiders have spent like they've never spent before, agreeing to deals with players left and right through the first two days of the legal tampering window. Will they decide to keep Crosby and if so, do they back out of any of their agreed-upon deals?
The Ravens stopped looking for pass rushers when they thought they were getting Crosby. With most of the top options off the market, what does their revised strategy now look like? Was a failed physical really the reason they backed out of the deal?

Will the Cowboys re-engage with the Raiders? They've already traded for Rashan Gary , who has $41 million on his contract over the next two years. Would they give up more draft capital to add Crosby, who himself has around $116 million remaining across four years of his deal?
It appears the early public stance of the team is no, they will not. But can the Cowboys be taken at their word, or is this a negotiating stance meant to lessen their offer if the Raiders feel they must move on from Crosby at this point?
With the uncertainty about the condition of his recovery from knee surgery last month, it's interesting that other clubs have supposedly reached out to the Raiders. Perhaps they are teams who thought they were going to grab edge rushers in free agency but struck out. Perhaps it's the Raiders trying to regenerate buzz with the report.

There's going to be a lot to unpack about the entire ordeal once things get sorted out.
