Crystal Palace Face Ismaila Sarr Pressure as Liverpool Talks Intensify in Final Days of Transfer Window
Crystal Palace are heading into the final days of the transfer window with pressure building around one of their most important attacking players, after fresh reporting from the Daily Mail indicated that Liverpool are continuing talks over Ismaila Sarr and that the Senegal international is pushing for the move to Anfield.

With only a short period left before the deadline, Palace now find themselves at the centre of a conversation that could shape the closing stages of their summer. This is the kind of situation clubs would rather avoid, a key player attracting firm interest from one of the division's biggest sides, while planning for the season is still taking shape. What turns this from background noise into something more serious is the suggestion that Sarr himself wants the transfer.
That changes the tone. Interest can be managed. A player push introduces urgency, and often forces a club into one of two tracks, hold firm and risk unrest, or engage on terms that protect squad balance and give enough time to react in the market.
Palace are also dealing with movement elsewhere in the squad. The same report states the club have agreed a £22m fee with Nottingham Forest for Daniel Munoz , while remaining determined not to sell Dean Henderson despite a separate approach. Alongside revived talks over Marseille midfielder Quinten Timber , it paints the picture of a club actively trying to manage multiple files at once. Against that backdrop, the Sarr situation becomes even more significant.

Ismaila Sarr move would test Crystal Palace resolve
There is a clear hierarchy in these late-window pursuits. Liverpool are acting aggressively in the market, with Bradley Barcola arriving in a £123m deal, Cody Gakpo expected to leave if terms with Manchester City are finalised, and Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh also under consideration. Sarr appears to be part of that broader attacking reshuffle, rather than a speculative enquiry.
That matters for Palace, because it suggests Liverpool's interest has strategic weight behind it. They are not simply gathering names. They are preparing for a departure, moving quickly in attack, and looking at options with the capacity to make an immediate contribution. Sarr fits that brief, offering pace, direct running, pressing energy and Premier League experience.
From Palace's perspective, this is a difficult profile to replace late in the window. Clubs can identify alternatives in advance, but market realities shift in the final week. Prices rise, selling clubs harden their stance, and availability narrows. Even if Palace were willing to sanction a sale, they would need confidence that an incoming could be secured quickly.

Sarr has long been the type of player who can alter games in transition and stretch compact defences. His form can fluctuate, as with many wide forwards who rely on confidence and rhythm, but the tools are obvious. Liverpool's recruitment under their current structure continues to favour players with explosive traits, tactical flexibility and the ability to function across the front line. Sarr's appeal in that model is easy to understand.
There is also the emotional component. Palace supporters have seen top clubs circle before, and they know what happens when uncertainty enters the dressing room in the final days of a window. If a player is fully committed, the club can move on quickly. If a player is pushing for an exit, the challenge becomes preserving leverage while avoiding a scenario where the market senses vulnerability.
Liverpool transfer plans create urgency at Anfield
Liverpool's end to the window is shaping up to be one of the busiest in the league. Barcola's arrival is the headline piece, but the knock-on effect is just as important. The report says Manchester City's opening offer for Gakpo was below Liverpool's valuation, although an agreement is expected. Should that deal go through, it would create both financial room and squad need.

That is where Sarr enters the picture as a serious Liverpool transfer option. He offers a different profile to Barcola and would not necessarily be viewed as a like-for-like replacement for Gakpo in style, but elite clubs increasingly build front lines with variation rather than duplication. Coaches want options for different opponents and different game states.
The club are also close to agreeing a move for Stefan Bajcetic to Celta Vigo and are monitoring Genk goalkeeper Lucca Brughmans, indicating there is coordinated activity across multiple positions and age groups. In other words, this is not an isolated conversation over one Palace attacker, it is part of a broader strategy to reshape depth before the deadline.
For Palace, that can be both a help and a complication. Liverpool's parallel business may speed up their decision-making, but it could also reduce the room for prolonged negotiation. If alternatives are being explored simultaneously, Palace cannot assume they hold all the cards. Once a buying club has several routes open, the seller must decide whether to engage decisively or risk being left with an unsettled player and no fee.
Still, Palace are under no obligation to sell. There is no indication in the report of an agreed valuation or advanced terms between the clubs. Interest and talks are one thing, closure is another. Palace can reasonably argue that keeping Sarr for the season is worth more than any offer that arrives too late to be reinvested properly.

Dean Henderson and Quinten Timber add to Palace pressure
The wider Palace picture is becoming increasingly important in assessing what happens next. Losing Munoz for £22m would already represent a meaningful alteration to the side. The club's resistance over Dean Henderson therefore makes perfect sense. Goalkeeper is a specialist position, and Palace clearly appear unwilling to dismantle too much of the spine in one go.
The Timber talks also suggest recruitment staff are preparing for possible changes. The Netherlands midfielder is described as keen on the move if a fee can be agreed, with Marseille open to sale for financial reasons. That sort of opportunity tends to emerge late in windows, when one club needs a resolution and another senses value.
Yet adding Timber, even if completed, would not fully address the implications of a Sarr departure. They solve different issues. Timber would strengthen midfield options, while Sarr's possible exit would affect thrust, width and threat in the final third. Palace would then need at least one further attacking solution, perhaps two if the squad is being rebalanced for a demanding season.

Recruitment teams often speak about sequence. One departure can trigger an arrival, which then influences another outgoing. Palace's problem is that too many of those sequences now appear to be converging at the same time. The final days of a transfer window can be productive, but they can also become chaotic quickly.
Transfer window endgame could define Palace season
Elsewhere, the market is moving at speed. Ollie Watkins has completed his £51m switch from Aston Villa to Al Hilal, while Villa are finalising a £30m package for Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Everton are advancing on Kenny Tete for £9.4m and considering a permanent exit for Jack Grealish from Manchester City, while Chelsea continue to juggle midfield plans and have completed the £7.5m signing of Emiliano Martinez from Villa.
Those deals matter beyond their own clubs because they shape the final market. Once significant fees are committed, the cascade begins, clubs re-enter the window, agents revisit dormant conversations, and new opportunities appear. Palace will be aware of that dynamic. If they are forced into the market by a Sarr sale, they may find some doors open, but they may also be buying in a seller's environment.

The immediate question remains whether Liverpool follow their interest with the kind of offer that tests Palace properly. It is one thing for a player to push for a move, another for the buying club to pay the level required to persuade a Premier League rival in the final days before deadline. Palace can still hold position, especially if they believe stability is worth more than the fee on offer.
But clubs also know when momentum is shifting. If Sarr has made his preference clear and Liverpool continue working on a post-Gakpo attacking configuration, this story is unlikely to disappear quietly. Palace's negotiation stance over Henderson shows they are prepared to be firm. The coming days will reveal whether that same firmness is maintained over Sarr, or whether the combination of player desire and Liverpool's need becomes too strong to resist.
For now, the situation is live, delicate and deeply consequential. Palace are trying to protect the core of their squad while the market swirls around them. Liverpool are recalibrating a forward line in real time. And with the window entering its final stretch, one of the most intriguing subplots now centres on whether Ismaila Sarr remains at Selhurst Park or gets the move he is pushing for.
Our View
As a worried Crystal Palace supporter, this report is exactly the sort of update that sets alarm bells ringing. Not simply because Liverpool are interested, that happens, but because Sarr is said to be pushing for the move. Once a player's head is turned this late in the window, supporters immediately start fearing the worst. You begin thinking about timing, replacements, and whether the club can really recover if a major sale happens with barely any time left.

Sarr gives Palace genuine pace and unpredictability. He is one of the players who can turn a flat match into something dangerous in a moment. If he goes now, it leaves a huge hole. And if Munoz is already on his way out, while Henderson is attracting bids too, fans are entitled to wonder how much change is too much change.
The Timber talks are encouraging, but that feels like a separate issue. Palace need players who can impact games in the final third, not just bodies in the squad. The fear from a fan perspective is that the club hold on for as long as possible, then end up selling anyway, and spend deadline day scrambling.
If Palace really want to show ambition, this is the moment to do it. Keep Sarr, reject the noise, and make it clear the club are building rather than stripping away quality when the season is already under way.
