The Chicago Cubs continued their dominant run at Wrigley Field on Thursday afternoon, beating the Cincinnati Reds 8-3 to complete a four-game sweep and extend the club's home winning streak to 15 games. The Cubs now sit at 26-12 on the season and are inching closer to franchise history with the second-longest home winning streak in the rich history of Wrigley Field.
The Cubs have now swept the New York Mets , Philadelphia Phillies , Arizona Diamondbacks , and Reds across their last four home series, turning Wrigley into one of the toughest environments in baseball early in the 2026 season. The only longer home streak in franchise history came in 1935, when the Cubs won 18 straight at home.
After the game, ESPN's Jesse Rogers highlighted the milestone and its historical significance in a post on X, formerly Twitter.
"The Cubs have swept the Mets, Phillies (4), Diamondbacks and now the Reds (4) over their last 4 home series. Overall, they've won 15 in a row at home, second most all-time at Wrigley (18 in 1935)."
Cubs starter Shota Imanaga delivered six strong innings of one-run baseball, scattering four hits and three walks while striking out 10 to improve to 4-2 on the season. The left-hander carried a scoreless streak of 12 innings into the sixth before allowing a solo homer to Sal Stewart .
Michael Conforto led the Cubs offense, going 3-for-3 with a solo homer and two RBIs. Chicago took control of the game with a season-high seven-run fourth inning after Reds starter Rhett Lowder exited with right shoulder tightness. Ian Happ also extended his on-base streak to 28 games by drawing a walk in the fourth.
Newly promoted Gavin Hollowell surrendered two runs in relief, but Daniel Palencia nailed down the final out for his second save. With the 8-3 victory, the Cubs completed the sweep, improved to 26-12, and handed the reeling Reds their seventh straight loss. The win pushed their home streak to 15 games, leaving them just three victories shy of the franchise record.
