Pete Crow-Armstrong haters just got a new material to fuel their trolling of the Chicago Cubs outfielder.
Crow-Armstrong was involved in an unfortunate sequence for the Cubs in the sixth inning of their matchup Thursday night against the visiting Athltics at Wrigley Field in Chicago, Illinois.
Apparently, the 28-year-old Crow-Armstrong lost what was supposed to be an easy flyout from Athletics designated hitter Shea Langeliers in the lights, leading to a two-run inside-the-park home run.
The former Gold Glove winner simply couldn't detect where the ball was, which landed several feet away from him. While the ball was in the air, Langeliers made a dash for home plate, as he was given the green light to go for it by the Athletics ' third base coach.
Here is a video of that wild play :
That home run extended the Athletics' lead to 4-0.
Meanwhile, fans are having quite a time reacting to the play.
"There's been more effort in beer league than from PCA," a fan said .
"PCA needs to be studied. The guys flat out entertaining," a social media user on X shared .
"Great defense by gold glove winner PCA there," another one commented .
"PCA WITH AN INCREDIBLE PLAY!" a different fan said .
"There's no doubt that PCA is a defensive master. But for some reason, he occasionally makes unbelievable mistakes," another comment read.
This is not the first time Crow-Armstrong turned heads this season because of an outfield mishap , but he and the Cubs surely hope that it's the last.
