The Boston Bruins have just two road games this month, and after practice this morning, they board the plane later today ahead of their first.
The Bruins are coming off a sweep of a two-game homestand, though neither win came in regulation. James Hagens scored again, and his 12 points lead all rookies in the NHL. His six goals are tied for the lead, and he's entering the road trip on a three-game point streak. Marco Sturm said Hagens was exceeding expectations, especially if you look at his point totals, but Hagens has been finding success in a new role.
The Bruins also released the brown Hometown Remix 'Varsity Sweaters' on Monday, and Mikey Eyssimont was named the AHL's Player of the Month.
Elsewhere around the league, Nikita Kucherov spoke about his trade request, and his name rises to the top of the trade boards. Kevin Weekes also reported the Lightning's offers to their superstar. Dylan Larkin's situation is still unresolved, and while his list does not include the Bruins, the Bruins are willing to make a move if he changes his mind. The Canadiens choked away a 4-0 lead in two minutes last night, and the Penguins fell to 0-2-1 in their last three.
There is also more on the new Hometown Remix sweaters, Russia's involvement in the World Juniors, and Jarome Iginla.
Happy Wednesday, catch up on Bruins and league news in today's Daily Bean :
Boston Bruins
HAGENS : James Hagens is exceeding expectations through the first 16 games of the season, but Marco Sturm is not rushing the now 20-year-old rookie into a bigger role. Hagens leads all rookies with 12 points (6-6–12), but Sturm would like to see him clean up some of his mistakes before giving him more responsibility. It's about patience, with Sturm saying there is no rush.
MONDAY POSTGAME : The Bruins (11-4-1) held on for their sixth straight home win, beating the Vegas Golden Knights (9-5-2) in a shootout, 3-2, on Monday night. Hagens continues to impress in his rookie season, and the Bruins' third line dominated against Jack Eichel and the Golden Knights. The Bruins outattempted Vegas 15-9 with Hagens on the ice against Eichel at 5-on-5, and they had a 3-0 lead in high-danger chances and outscored Eichel's line 1-0.
Geekie scored for the second straight game, and Marco Sturm had some words about Charlie McAvoy 's penalties.
HOMETOWN REMIX : They're here. Fanatics and the NHL revealed the 32 jerseys as part of the 'Hometown Remix' series, and the Bruins are wearing brown. The "Varsity Sweater" takes inspiration from the four Beanpot teams. The Bruins will wear brown 12 times this season, with the debut coming on Nov. 12 alongside a "Homecoming" event.
The AHL (via ๐) : The AHL named Mikey Eyssimont Player of the Month for October. Eyssimont leads the P-Bruins with 13 points, and his 10 goals are the most in the AHL.

NHL News & National Hockey Now
TSN : Nikita Kucherov spoke on Monday, telling reporters in Tampa that there have only been two conversations with him and Julien BriseBois since becoming extension-eligible in July. When asked about whether or not he would still be with the Lightning after the season, Kucherov said, "I made my request."
Kevin Weekes (via ๐) : Per ESPN's Kevin Weekes, the first offer was around $13M. It was revised to $15M after Leo Carlsson signed for $18M and Cale Makar for $20.4M.
๐ Per sources ; I'm told 1st offer was around 13M, revised offer 15M only after Carlsson 18M offer sheet & Makar 20M deal. Kucherov is a Hall Of Fame , has a

New Jersey Hockey Now : Could the Devils afford a Kucherov move? Sunny Mehta has already proved to be unpredictable. James Nichols does a deep dive into the cap math and what a potential deal means for New Jersey's long-term plans.
The Athletic : It's obvious who sits at the top of Chris Johnston's trade board. Dylan Larkin and Simon Edvinsson fall in line at Nos. 2 and 3. Johnston's list includes 25 players; Pavel Zacha is listed as No. 18.
The Bruins are among the teams "willing to pull the trigger if Larkin expands that list to include them."
Detroit Hockey Now : Larkin's reputation has taken a hit since he left the Red Wings. The players in Detroit didn't throw him under the bus, but the players in Tampa did.
Montreal Hockey Now : Wow. The Winnipeg Jets entered Montreal without a win in their last nine games, and it looked to be 10 on Tuesday. However, in the final 2:39, the Jets stormed for four goals before Dylan Samberg won it 3:30 into overtime.
Sportsnet : Former Bruins forward and Calgary Flames legend Jarome Iginla is battling neurological health issues. He said that he's not entirely sure what's causing them, but it may be related to the hip replacement surgery he underwent post-career. Prayers to Iginla and his family.
Pittsburgh Hockey Now : Things aren't looking up in Pittsburgh. The Penguins lost their third straight, falling 3-2 to the Golden Knights last night. They're struggling, the locker room feels dejected, and as Dan Kingerski puts it, "The end is near."
The Bruins fly to Pittsburgh this afternoon.
SportsLogos.net : Here is a breakdown of all 32 'Hometown Remix' sweaters and the meaning behind them.
Philly Hockey Now : Will James takes a stab at ranking all 32. We don't see eye-to-eye on all of them, but I couldn't agree more on his No. 1.
Sportsnet : Canadian PM Mark Carney confirmed Russia will not be allowed to compete at the upcoming World Junior Championships. The Court of Arbitration for Sport ruled that Russia must be reinstated starting with the WJC. Six European federations responded with statements that they would not play Russian teams.
