When it comes to the greatest quarterbacks to never hoist the Lombardi Trophy, Dan Marino is always at the top of the conversation. Even without a Super Bowl ring on his résumé, the Dolphins legend is still considered one of the most talented signal-callers to ever step under center.
Marino has largely stayed out of the spotlight since hanging up his cleats, but on Friday, the Hall of Famer found himself back in the headlines after making it clear where he stands politically—showing support for President Donald Trump.

Hall of Fame quarterback Dan Marino , one of the greatest signal-callers the NFL has ever seen, unexpectedly found himself in the middle of a social media firestorm this week.
The buzz started after a photo surfaced showing the former Miami Dolphins star signing a MAGA hat during a recent visit to the White House. In the image, Marino can be seen autographing the cap with a marker, while the photo, shared by NFL insider Dov Kleiman on X, quickly gained traction across social media and sparked plenty of debate among fans.
Marino's football résumé hardly needs an introduction. During his 17-year career with the Dolphins , he helped redefine the passing game and set a standard for quarterback play that was years ahead of its time. Armed with one of the quickest releases in league history, the 1984 NFL MVP became the first quarterback to throw for more than 5,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in a single season, shattering expectations in an era dominated by defense.

The nine-time Pro Bowler eventually retired with 61,361 passing yards and 420 touchdowns, numbers that once stood among the NFL's all-time best. His legendary career earned him a first-ballot Hall of Fame induction and cemented his place among football's all-time greats.
Since hanging up his cleats, Marino has largely stayed away from controversy, building a reputation as a respected broadcaster, executive, and ambassador for the game. Unlike many public figures, he has generally kept his political views out of the spotlight throughout his post-playing career.
Neither Marino nor his representatives have publicly commented on the viral photo. Still, the reaction surrounding the image highlights how even a simple autograph can become headline material in today's social media-driven landscape, especially when it involves one of the NFL's most iconic quarterbacks.
