Daniel Farke will not want to look too far ahead at Leeds United, yet Ethan Ampadu may prompt him to do so.
The Welsh midfielder and captain of the Elland Road outfit is an instrumental figure in the way the German wants to play.
Losing him for any particular game would be a significant blow.
And Ampadu is already at risk of missing a crucial match for the Whites in the coming weeks.
As Leeds prepare to face Tottenham on 7 November, Farke may instruct Ampadu to limit his game on the pitch.
That is with one eye already on an intense historical rivalry showdown against Chelsea.
Why Daniel Farke may have one eye on the Chelsea match with Ethan Ampadu
The rivalry between Leeds United and Chelsea may not be one that many modern fans know, but one that was fierce.
The hostility between these two sides dates back to the 1960s, but it was the 1970 FA Cup final that cemented it.
An FA Cup final replay was required following a 2-2 draw at Wembley, with Leeds eventually losing 2-1 in the following game at Old Trafford.
Both games were quite violent, with plenty of crunching tackles, confrontations and lots of disciplinary action.
Since then, an animosity has been bred between both sets of supporters.
It may be dated rivalry, but for the reasons above, a fixture against Chelsea does carry more weight than most in the top flight.
Leeds face Chelsea on 21 November, but up first they will host Tottenham at Elland Road.
Captain Ampadu is on the verge of missing that Chelsea showdown, with the 26-year-old currently on four yellow cards.
A fifth against Spurs would see him have to serve a one-match ban, which would come against his former side Chelsea.
So, Farke may very well provide the skipper with instructions to avoid situations that could see him booked.
What Leeds United have now decided on new Daniel Farke contract ahead of Tottenham clash Are any other Leeds players close to suspension?
Elsewhere in the squad, there are a couple of others close to a suspension.
Jayden Bogle and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have both picked up three yellow cards each, meaning two more would see them serve a ban.
Both are once again key players for Leeds, and Farke will want to avoid another headache.
Losing either player for a game would be an unwanted setback, particularly with the demanding Christmas run of fixtures ahead.
The Leeds boss will therefore be hoping his players can keep their discipline and avoid picking up unnecessary bookings over the coming weeks.
