The Utah Mammoth reached a decision just before the deadline of the offer sheet for one of their forwards. Did it go the way New Jersey had planned? Also, Leo Carlsson 's offer sheet is close to the week mark, and the massive decision for the Anaheim Ducks looms on Friday.
All that and more on this edition of Deen's Daily — July 9.
New Jersey Hockey Now: Despite what has been reported as a tarnished relationship between the Utah Mammoth and Barrett Hayton , even though he'll be a UFA before the Mammoth can trade him, GM Bill Armstrong h as chosen to match the offer sheet to keep Hayton in Utah. The Mammoth value a year of Hayton more than a second-round draft pick (understandably so). The next step is to figure out if they can get back on track and sign him after January 1 when he's eligible for an extension, or if he's going to walk right into UFA.
The first of two offer sheets was proven to be unsuccessful. Now we'll have to see what happens with the next one — the bigger one.
Philly Hockey Now: Speaking of that second offer sheet, we are a day away from the deadline for the Anaheim Ducks to match on Leo Carlsson. Whichever way this goes, just the fact that the Flyers were this aggressive says a lot about Danny Briere's commitment to building a talented roster.

Detroit Hockey Now: With rising salaries, Dylan Larkin 's trade value only continues to rise given his manageable cap hit. I t's making a trade harder to consummate.
