The Philadelphia Eagles are getting ready for a big game this week, as the team will host the New York Giants.
Philadelphia will enter the game with a record of 2-6, with the team having lost six straight games coming in. But there may be some light at the end of the tunnel for this team, with the Eagles making a change at quarterback.
Joe Milton will be replacing Tanner McKee under center, with the hope that the veteran dual-threat signal-caller can spark the offense. However, Milton could be starting the game without some of the other stars on the Eagles.
Both star wide receiver DeVonta Smith and star running back Saquon Barkley missed practice for the team on Wednesday. Each player has been dealing with different injuries, taking them in and out of the lineup all year.
Smith has missed the last few weeks due to an ongoing hamstring issue, and it's hurt the team on offense. Heading into the year, Smith was expected to be the leader of an already thin wide receiving core, and without him, this team has fallen.
As for Barkley, he has been dealing with hamstring and back issues, limiting how productive he can be for this team. The veteran running back has tried to play in games for Philadelphia, with the organization letting him heal leading into the matchups.
It remains to be seen if either player will be able to suit up against the Giants this weekend, but the team needs them back. Barkley was able to play last week against the Commanders, playing in 22 snaps for the team.
The star running back was limited during the game, with him clearly not being fully healthy out on the field. But Barkley was still able to make his presence known a little for Philadelphia, with him scoring the lone touchdown of the game against Washington.
In addition to the two stars, wide reciever Dontayvion Wicks also didn't practice for the Eagles on Wednesday. Wicks hasn't played since October 18, adding to the long list of injuries that Philadelphia has seen this season.
With Milton under center, he will need some playmakers on the field with him, but it remains to be seen if the Eagles can get healthy in time. If these guys can't go, the Eagles could be in some serious trouble, even with the change at quarterback this week.
