Arizona Diamondbacks star pitcher Corbin Burnes is continuing to recover from Tommy John surgery. The Diamondbacks are hopeful that Burnes will be able to return at some point during the summer. On Tuesday, Burnes shared an injury update and provided a possible timeline for his return , via Nick Piecoro.
" Corbin Burnes said he has two more bullpen sessions before he faces hitters, likely in a live session next Friday. He thinks it could be a couple of weeks or so before he starts getting into games. Still targeting a mid-July-ish return," Piecoro reported.
Burnes, 31, is a four-time All-Star and former Cy Young winner. He is one of the better pitchers in the entire sport. The Diamondbacks right-handed hurler pitched to an impressive 2.66 ERA in 2025 before suffering an elbow injury and undergoing Tommy John surgery.
Updates will continue to be monitored and provided on Corbin Burnes' injury status as they are made available.
The Diamondbacks have battled injury concerns this season . They are hoping to compete, but it has been an up and down campaign for the ball club up to this point.
Arizona is currently 23-23 overall. The Diamondbacks are in third place in the National League East standings. They trail the San Diego Padres by 5.5 games for first place in the division.
Competing for the division will certainly be a challenge, but perhaps the Diamondbacks will be able to make a run for an NL Wild Card position. Corbin Burnes' return from injury will help Arizona's postseason chances to say the least.
