The Arizona Diamondbacks released a 31-year-old reliever with five years of Major League experience on Friday.
According to Darragh McDonald of MLB Trade Rumors , the NL West club has parted ways with right-hander Thomas Hatch .
"It's possible he had an opt-out in his deal, as the start of June is a common time for such contract provisions," McDonald wrote.
Hatch signed a minor league deal with Arizona during the offseason and spent parts of the first four seasons of his career pitching out of the bullpen for the Toronto Blue Jays .
He never threw more than 28.2 innings in a year with Toronto, and Hatch's career high for innings (34) in a season came in 2025 with the Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins .
The Hiroshima Toyo Carp in Nippon Professional Baseball took a chance on Hatch as a starting pitcher in 2024, but he made just five outings with their Central League club compared to 15 with their farm team.

In 51 career appearances, including seven starts, Hatch owns a 5.24 ERA with 83 strikeouts and a 1.592 WHIP.
"Teams like the Twins, Royals, and Blue Jays , who have employed Hatch before, have big injury concerns in their starting pitching ranks and could be interested in a reunion," McDonald added.
