The individual accolades are rolling in for the Tulane Green Wave after they took down the Charlotte 49ers in an overtime thriller on the road.
Redshirt junior linebacker Dickson Agu got dual honors for his efforts as the team's leading tackler last Friday. He was named to the American Conference Weekly Honor Roll selection and also was honored with a selection to the Comeback Player of the Year Midseason Watch List.
Agu finished the night for the Green Wave with 14 total tackles that tied his career high and secured his fourth game with double digit tackles this year alone. Seven of his tackles were solo. He also had 0.5 tackles for loss.
The 14 tackles are the most by a Tulane player in a game since Corey Platt recorded 15 in a contest back in the 2023 season.
Agu is averaging 9.8 tackles per game, which is good for second in the conference and 10th in the nation.
He joined TJ Smith in gaining American Conference honors this week as Smith notched the league's Special Teams Player of the Week for his 95-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
In addition, Agu was named to the midseason watch list for the national award for Comeback Player of the Year. He was one of 38 players named to the list.
The award is sponsored by the College Sports Communicators (CSC), the Associated Press, and the Fiesta Bowl.
Agu is back this season after a season-ending patellar tendon knee injury that occurred in Week 5 of the 2025 campaign.
He was previously named to the Preseason Watch List in the offseason and was honored on their weekly Comeback Player of the Week Award back on Sept. 15 following Week 2 of action in which the Green Wave defeated the South Alabama Jaguars.
That was where he hit the career-high 14 tackles for the first time this year which unsurprisingly led the team in that win. He had four solo.
The award has been in place since 2018, and it recognizes players who overcome "injury, illness, or other circumstances."
Three players in total will be honored at the conclusion of the year via a vote by a panel of AP college football writers and sports information directors across the nation.
The award will be given in an on-field ceremony during the VRBO Fiesta Bowl in Glendale, Arizona on Dec. 30, 2026, which will be the College Football Playoff Quarterfinal game. Agu was one of 94 players to make the preseason watch list.
The team will now look to turn their sights to homecoming against the Tulsa Golden Hurricanes on Saturday, Nov. 7.
