DK Metcalf Fantasy Prediction 2026:
DK Metcalf remains one of the most physically imposing receivers in football and one of the most consistently overpriced in fantasy. His actual production has settled into a narrow band that does not match his reputation. The role that once gave him a ceiling has been eroding for two straight seasons. Fantasy managers should look closely at what they are paying for in 2026.
Should You Draft DK Metcalf in Fantasy Football?
For me, this is an evolving topic. I wasn't in on Metcalf coming into the year. I wasn't in on him coming out of last season. I didn't like what I saw with him being pigeonholed into these short and intermediate routes under Aaron Rodgers, who didn't want to throw the ball, didn't want to get hit. He had the lowest ADOT in the league.

Does that change? Does Aaron Rodgers change in a significant way now that he's in his 40s? Probably not. Maybe I'm being a little optimistic, but they brought in Michael Pittman. He's going to serve the role that Metcalf was stuck in last season.
He can get all those low-value targets. Fine. We've seen Pittman do it in the past. He can do it with efficiency, and we know Aaron Rodgers can get the ball to that spot on the field, but that bumps Metcalf outside. I don't think you're going to have two guys running these crazy short routes. Not with Jaylen Warren, not with all the tight ends in the mix.
If Metcalf's running vertical, you're asking a physical freak to do what physical freaks do, and that's win jump-ball and contested-ball situations, and he doesn't need time to win on those routes. Rodgers doesn't have to take a health risk to drop back five steps and lob the ball up so that his monster of a receiver can go get the ball.
Last season, Metcalf had the lowest ADOT in the league. True, but he was also second in deep pass touchdown rate. When Rodgers was looking deep, it was effective. We know he's got that soft touch. We saw it when he was with the Packers. I'm not saying this is peak Rodgers. I'm not saying he's an MVP candidate. I'm saying he can do the bare minimum. Put the ball somewhere in the vicinity of a basketball player in Metcalf.

I think he could challenge double-digit touchdowns. If he does that, him being picked around pick 80 is theft. I don't think he's going to be a weekly play. He's going to be a DFS play for me, or maybe a flex, an on-again, off-again type of option. There are going to be spots where you don't play him, where there's a strong, big corner on the perimeter who could push DK closer to the sideline and use the sideline as a second defender. But that's fine at his ADP.
I think you're looking at a monster bounce-back season. If he crossed 1,000 yards, I wouldn't be shocked if you saw 8 to 10 touchdowns. I wouldn't be shocked in the slightest. That's great return on this investment. I've got him ranked over Pittman as the receiver to get in Pittsburgh. I don't love the offense, but I'm in on Metcalf at his price this season.

DK Metcalf's Week 1 Fantasy Outlook
Let's call a spade a spade: Metcalf is coming off of the worst season of his career. His 850 yards was a new low-water mark, and even that was inflated by 2 games where he had superhero singular plays that lifted his stat line (274 yards in games against the Ravens and Vikings, 576 in his other 13, good for just 44.3 yards per contest).

Aaron Rodgers is back at the helm, and the team added Michael Pittman this offseason, a receiver who has effectively made a career off of what the Steelers asked of Metcalf in his first season with the franchise: short targets and hope.
Metcalf's 11.3 aDOT was, you guessed it, the lowest of his career, and featured just 24,2% of his looks coming deep downfield (15+ yards), a rate that stood at 43.5% in 2024 with Seattle.
But that's in the past, and we should get a snapshot of what 2026 will hold this weekend. The Dirty Birds allowed 7 receivers to clear 20 PPR points in a game last season, and 6 of the 9 top WR scores against them came courtesy of 120+ air yards.
Will we see the 28-year-old unleashed the way he has previously? Will it matter if that is the case, or is the version of Rodgers that can elevate such a role never to return?

The answer will most likely rest in the middle of those two extremes, and that's why I'm proceeding with all sorts of caution. There is a path to Metcalf giving us the numbers he did in Seattle, one that involves Pittman demanding short-range attention and thus opening up favorable downfield matchups.
That path exists, but I'm going to be a week (or two) late to the party rather than early. I'm not comfortable penciling Metcalf into lineups right now.
