Baseball is America's national pastime, but Sundays belong to football.
And when it comes to MLB's impending lockout, it could be a chance to trade leather, webbed mitts for stickier, lightweight football gloves.
In an exclusive interview with LA Sports Report, tight end Colby Parkinson revealed which Dodger he believes could make his mark on the gridiron.
"Kiké Hernández as a slot receiver or something," Parkinson told LA Sports Report. "I feel like that would be a pretty good, pretty good matchup. He seems like he could get nasty in some run blocking and then run some good routes too."
What would make Kiké Hernández a good football player?
While Hernández has never publicly said if he has football experience, his patented versatility, clutch postseason performances, and high energy in the clubhouse could transfer well to the football field.
His 5'10" frame and quickness also make him a solid option to plug into the slot.
The timing could work out too, should Hernández put Parkinson's word to the test.
The Rams could be in the market for a wide receiver
ahead of the NFL's November 10th trade deadline. Davante Adams
is out the next 6-10 weeks with a ruptured hamstring, and tight end Terrance Ferguson
remains on the IR with a high ankle sprain.

It is worth noting, however, that Hernández will be a free agent this offseason and his future with the Dodgers is uncertain. He signed a one-year, $4.5 million contract last February to return to LA.
Hernández also battled injuries this season, including recovering from left elbow surgery and an oblique strain. MLB free agency opens the morning after the World Series concludes. Teams can negotiate with their own internal free agents exclusively for the first five days before the market opens.
Hernández is 35 years old. He has played 10 of his 13 seasons with the Dodgers.
Why is Colby Parkinson a fan of the Dodgers?
Parkinson was born in San Ramon, California and spent a couple of his childhood years in Seattle before moving down to Southern California, he said in an episode of
Rams Revealed
.
Don't worry, Dodgers fans: he didn't adopt the San Francisco Giants as his team, despite attending Stanford University from 2017-19.
Parkinson, who graduated from Oaks Christian School in Westlake Village, says he "grew up kind of a Mariners fan, kind of a Dodgers fan."
"But when we moved down here, I was a Dodgers fan," Parkinson said. "I've been following them closely for a long time."
As for which Rams teammate he could see on the diamond?
"I mean the obvious answer is Matthew [Stafford]," Parkinson told LA Sports Report. "I feel like he [could] probably throw a baseball pretty hard, just watching how hard he throws a football. I know him and [Clayton] Kershaw go way back, so I bet they could teach each other a few things."
Stafford and Kershaw famously grew up in the Dallas area together and were teammates from age 9 through their days at Highland Park High School.
