The Los Angeles Dodgers just took two of three from the Chicago Cubs . After dropping the first game of the series, Roki Sasaki led the Dodgers to a win in game two.
In game three, Justin Wrobleski took to the mound, and after the game, manager Dave Roberts heaped praise on his pitcher , according to SportsNetLA.
"He's unflappable, he really is," Roberts said.
Wrobleski was dominant in the game. He went six innings, giving up four hits and four walks, while striking out six and not giving up a run. It was his fourth straight win and third straight quality start. In his last four starts, he has struck out 13 batters while giving up just two runs. After giving up three runs in his first start of the year to the Cleveland Guardians , he has seen his ERA drop from 6.75 to 1.50. Roberts has also noticed how well his pitcher is getting out of trouble .
"For a young pitcher to go through stress and be consistent and be able to manage stress, limit damage and things like that, that's certainly a lot of growth," the manager said. "And it's just a sign of a really competent pitcher."
Edgardo Henriquez , Jack Dreyer , and Kyle Hunt were able to complete the shutout, each pitching an inning of relief and only giving up a combined two walks without a hit in the final three innings.
Wrobleski, who is now in his third season in the majors, knows he needs to continue to throw well and keep improving.
"I'm going to try to give quality each time out, whether I'm throwing well or not throwing well," said Wrobleski. "I think that's been the big thing, is just every time out, let's see how I can raise the floor of, when I'm not my best, like, where I can go. And I think that's what I've been most proud of."
The Dodgers now open a three-game home series against the Miami Marlins before hitting the road to face the St. Louis Cardinals next weekend. Wrobleski is scheduled to return to the mound on May 3 against the Cards.
