Los Angeles Dodgers utility player Tommy Edman is partnering with a car-buying website to give away $25,000 in free gas to Southern Californians on Friday, he told Dodgers Nation's Noel Sanchez in an exclusive interview.
Edman is partnering with Edmunds to give away 333 gas cards worth $75 apiece on Friday, Sept. 25, at Longo Lexus in El Monte, located at 3530 Peck Road, El Monte, CA 91731.
The event, dubbed the Tommy Tanks gas giveaway, comes from from a survey of over 2,000 Dodgers fans by Edmunds that found that 80% of fans said they'd turn down gas for $1 per gallon if it meant another World Series ring , and 32% of fans would sit in five hours or more of LA traffic for a playoff game.
"It speaks to the loyalty of the Dodgers fans," Edman told Noel. "You know, we're so grateful for all the Dodgers fans out there, best fans in baseball, and it's pretty crazy. Gas prices are wild right now, so to turn down a dollar gas really says something. Sitting in traffic, after being in LA, the traffic is brutal. But we're really grateful for all the Dodgers fans have supported us with over the past few years."

Friday offers more than just free gas, though.
Fans are encouraged to show off their Dodgers fandom and dress up for the occasion, and they'll be able to take photos with a life-sized Tommy Tanks display in the showroom.
Additionally, fans can use the Tommy Tanks Gas Calculator to estimate fuel savings.
"We're trying to give back to the people that voted that way and just give them some free gas anyway," Edman said. "So we're excited about it and hopefully help out a lot of people out there."
Of course, gasoline isn't all that's on Edman's mind right now.
Edman told Noel that the team is ready for another big October as they chase a third straight World Series title .
It's far from the first time Edman and the Dodgers will be chasing a championship, but Edman said they want this three-peat more than ever.
"I think having experienced the last two Octobers and just how exciting it is actually makes us hungrier for that third World Series title," he said.
The Dodgers will need fan support during this grueling month, though, and Edman had some words of encouragement for fans.
"We're excited for the postseason," he said. "Excited for you guys to come out and bring the energy to Dodger Stadium. It's going to be a ton of fun, and we're really counting on you guys to support us through another long run in October."
