Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley broke the news that the team lost UDFA defensive lineman Rene Konga for the season. His injury was not disclosed, but it left the roster down a player.
Now, the Dolphins have made a swift move to sign a replacement in former New York Jets defensive lineman Fatorma Mulbah. Mulbah's agent, Brett Tessler, announced the news on X.

Mulbah joined the Jets in 2025 as an undrafted free agent, spending his collegiate years with Penn State and West Virginia.
At West Virginia during the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Mulbah picked up a career 75 total tackles and 1,5 sacks.
Mulbah was signed by the Jets during the 2025 offseason, and was part of the roster cuts when the team got down to their 53-man roster. He was later added to the practice squad in October.
Now, the Dolphins have brought Mulbah in to take the spot left by Konga. The young defensive tackle will battle it out to make the 53-man roster or practice squad by the time the regular season rolls around.
Dolphins general manager Jon-Eric Sullivan has not been shy about bringing in potential candidates to push for competition and roles on the 2026 team.
While Mulbah was signed, Miami also brought in multiple tryouts, per the official NFL transaction wire. The list is as follows:
Dahoue, Dodji T Eastern Michigan
Garber, Keenan DB Kansas State
Mayes, B.J. DB Texas A&M
Mokofisi, Michael G Utah
Owens, Wande DB New Hampshire
Tryouts are commonplace for all teams during training camp, as they aim to build the best roster possible. For the Dolphins, this couldn't be more true due to how the roster was constructed by Sullivan.
Given Miami's cap situation when Sullivan took over, he got to work signing a ton of low-cost free agents who have had varying degrees of success in the NFL. Despite being looked at as a negative, this could lead to hidden gems being found at every level.
That is also the expectation when it comes to UDFA candidates or any tryout candidates that are also brought in. Sullivan is likely to continue to bring more players in, should the roster size allow it.

Every team is allowed 90 players, or 91 if one of the players on the roster arrived via the NFL's International Pathway Program. Dolphins tight end Seydou Traore is that candidate, so the team will get to carry 91 up until roster cuts happen.
Miami plays their first preseason game on Aug. 14 against the Washington Commanders , and the roster must be cut down to 85 by Aug. 16. On Aug. 23, the roster must be cut down to 80, and finally down to 53 by Aug. 30.
