Minnesota Timberwolves guard Donte DiVincenzo has been sidelined with an Achilles injury since the 2026 playoffs, when he tore it against the Denver Nuggets, and according to his doctor, he could be looking at a return at some point this season.
Last season, DiVincenzo averaged 12.2 points per game, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.8 assists, and he's been a key player in the Timberwolves' success since he arrived in 2024. He's been a solid player on both ends, from the perimeter, being able to defend well while shooting 37.9 percent from three-point range.
DiVincenzo is usually a very durable player. He played in all 82 games in last year's regular season, and when he comes back, he may be in a good position to establish himself in this rotation.

Just recently, a video was released of his doctor telling him what he can expect in terms of a return in the future. He told DiVincenzo to stay mentally prepared for a comeback, but in terms of the physical element, he will be ready at some point this season.
"We can easily say you're on schedule, if not certainly ahead of schedule…When this happened the goal was to be back for this season. That's not even a question," his doctor said .
Getting Donte DiVincenzo back will be a big help for the Timberwolves whenever that time comes. This is a team that is already very versatile, especially on the backcourt, and his 3&D ability could add a lot to this team.

In the postseason, a team like Minnesota could use all the help they can get on the perimeter, and he could add a big boost for them in that area. It will also be interesting to see how he will coexist with LaMelo Ball , as they have yet to share the floor since he was acquired in the offseason.
LaMelo Ball has been able to put his new teammates in position to score often, and DiVincenzo's ability to create open looks off the ball could make this offense even more dangerous than it already is.
In terms of the rest of the roster, most players on this team have established chemistry with DiVincenzo. Minnesota has kept much of the same core since he arrived in 2024, including star player Anthony Edwards , who is currently coming back from arthroscopic knee surgery.

It will be interesting to see how Edwards and DiVincenzo will both look on the court alongside LaMelo Ball, and how often they can create open looks to score.
