Drake Maye has been sacked 15 times in the past three games, including five times during theNew England Patriots' 10-7 win over the Denver Broncos in the AFC Championship .
And, after an awkward slide late in the third quarter, he took a hit on his throwing arm.
Monday evening, several X accounts from people claiming to be medical professionals began discussing if Maye was injured heading into Super Bowl 60.
When asked if Maye was 100-percent healthy on “ The Greg Hill Show ” Tuesday morning, Mike Vrabel gave a vague response.
“There’s not a player on our team that’s 100-percent healthy,” Vrabel said .
Chris Curtis followed up, asking if Maye could play at a high level.
“I would imagine we’ll go through the injury report, and whenever we have to turn that in, we’ll turn it in,” Vrabel said. “But nobody’s 100 percent. (It’ll) be our 21st game.”
After a season where Maye broke the franchise record for completion percentage, posting a 72.0 percent throughout the regular season, that number has dropped in three postseason games and sits a tick above 55 percent.
Before he was asked about a potential injury, Vrabel said Tuesday that the weather the team has faced and better defensive pressure were among the factors that have impacted the team’s offensive production.
“I think it’s just a lot of those combinations,” Vrabel said. “We’re going to have to play better offensively. We’ll have to continue to do what we’ve done defensively, trying to take care of the football, which we did and we talked about going into Denver, you know, those teams that have won the last three years, the last two years, that joined the Mile High Club, they didn’t turn the ball over. We were the fourth one to go in there and win and not turn the ball over.”
After Sunday’s game, Drake Maye addressed his potential injuries while talking to ESPN , admitting to “some bumps and bruises.”
“But hey, that’s what it takes,” Maye said . “I think a lot of those guys in that locker room are battling through things. At the same time, the best thing about it is we have another chance at it. Another chance at it to get healthy. Two weeks — a chance to go win the Super Bowl. That’s what it is, and that’s pretty cool."
