Drake Maye is still waiting to learn if he is the NFL MVP — an award that will be announced next week at the NFL Honors.
But the New England Patriots quarterback did learn this week that he was not considered the top quarterback in the league by the majority of NFL head coaches.
The Sporting News released its NFL All-Pro Team Thursday, announcing its top players in the league as determined by a poll of NFL head coaches.
Matthew Stafford , the other favorite for the NFL MVP, was announced as the All-Pro quarterback on the list.
Stafford had also won the battle at QB in the Associated Press’ All-Pro team list.
“The likely Associated Press NFL MVP at the NFL Honors led the league with his career-high 46 TD passes and 4,707 passing yards, the first time he’s even been first in either category at age 37,” the Sports News wrote.
Maye finished the regular season with 31 touchdowns and 4,394 passing yards. His 72.0 completion percentage broke the Patriots’ franchise record .
The Associated Press’ awards are voted on immediately following the conclusion of the regular season and do not include postseason production. They will be announced Feb. 5 ahead of Super Bowl 60 in Santa Clara, California.
